South Coast Federation – Blind Auction Race Rules

The South Coast Federation (SCF) Blind Auction Race is an annual competitive racing event designed to bring together flyers from across the country. Participants bid for a race spot, not a specific bird. The pigeon each buyer will race is randomly drawn live at the official SCF Presentation Night.

This year, all race birds will be supplied by last year’s buyers, maintaining continuity and strong competition within the Federation.

Please read rules below,

1. Auction Format

·       Bidders compete for race positions — each winning bid secures one entry spot in the SCF Blind Auction Race.

·       Birds for the race are donated by last year’s buyers.

·       The allocation of birds to buyers is determined by a live public draw at the SCF Presentation Night.

·       There is no limit to the number of birds a single buyer may purchase.

·       Out-of-area buyers may nominate any licensed SCF flyer to race their allocated birds on their behalf.

2. Entry Requirements

·       Each donating breeder must provide a 2025-rung bird.

·       The ring number must be submitted to the Federation by the end of January.

·       Failure to provide a valid ring number by this deadline will result in disqualification of that entry.

3. Race Conditions

·       The SCF Blind Auction Race will be flown over a distance of approximately 600 km, in line with the official South Coast Federation race schedule.

·       The race will be conducted strictly under SCF race rules.

·       All race results and rulings are final as determined by the SCF Race Committee.

·       Jackpot Clause: In the event that no birds make it to the final race or no birds return in accordance with SCF race rules, the prize money will roll over (jackpot) to the following year.

4. Prize Money

·       The event operates on a winner-takes-all format.

·       This year’s prize money is a carry-over from last year and is projected to double, starting at $6,500.

·       The winning bird will be determined according to official SCF race results.

·       Both the purchasing owner and the donating breeder will be acknowledged in the official SCF results and presentations.

·       The prize money will be split 50-50 between breeder and flyer

5. Eligibility for Next Year’s Race

·       This year’s buyers are eligible to provide birds and participate in next year’s SCF Blind Auction Race.
